Remodeling that respects the house it's added to
American Quality Services is a Bergen County remodeling company built around a simple idea: the finished product should still look right on the day you sell the house, not just the day the crew rolls out of the driveway. We work on colonials in Ridgewood, split-levels in Paramus, capes in Bergenfield, and everything in between, and we treat each project as a piece of the neighborhood — not a template.
We stay hands-on. Our lead carpenters, tile setters, and finish painters are people we've worked with for years, not names off a subcontractor list. That continuity is what lets us hit dates, catch problems early, and hand a client a punch list that fits on half a page instead of three.
Whether you're gutting a primary bathroom, opening a wall between the kitchen and dining room, adding a family room off the back of the house, or refreshing the entire exterior, the process is the same: listen carefully, plan thoroughly, price honestly, and build it once, correctly.

Built to a standard, not a script
A remodeling contract is a trust exchange. You hand us keys, budget, and a decision that touches every day of your life at home. We take that seriously.
We measure, sketch, and confirm scope in writing before we ever quote a dollar figure. That's the only way a number stays honest.
The people who show up on day one are the ones who install your trim on the last day. No revolving door of unfamiliar subs.
Our bids show you what you're paying for room by room and trade by trade, so comparisons and adjustments are straightforward.
Every install is backed in writing. If something we built moves, settles, or fails, we come back and make it right.
Straight tile lines, tight reveals, level floors, doors that close without a shove. Details compound.
Most of our business comes from referrals down the block. We work like the next call depends on this one — because it does.
A remodeling process without the guesswork
Every project moves through the same predictable stages. You'll always know what's happening this week and what's coming next.

- 04Build & handoff

Answers before the first phone call
How long does a typical kitchen or bathroom remodel take?
For a standard Bergen County kitchen, plan on roughly six to ten weeks from demolition to punch list, depending on cabinet lead times and any structural or electrical scope. Full bathrooms usually land between three and five weeks. We build a written schedule during the design phase and update it weekly so nothing slips quietly.
Do I need permits for my remodeling project?
Most work that involves plumbing, electrical, framing, or structural changes requires a permit from your municipal building department. We pull the permits ourselves, coordinate every inspection, and keep the paperwork on file so your project closes cleanly. Cosmetic-only work like painting or flooring generally does not.
Can I stay in my home during a remodel?
In most cases, yes. We set up dust barriers, protect adjacent floors and finishes, and stage the work so at least one bathroom and a functional living space stay usable. Whole-home renovations and larger additions are the exception — we'll walk through logistics before contract so there are no surprises.
How do you handle change orders and unexpected issues?
Every change is written up before we act on it, with the added cost, added time, and reason spelled out on a signed change order. Hidden conditions like rotted framing or outdated wiring do come up in older Bergen County homes, and being upfront about them is part of the job.
Are you licensed and insured in New Jersey?
Yes. We carry New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration along with general liability and workers' compensation insurance. Certificates are available on request before any deposit changes hands.
Do you provide design help or do I need my own designer?
We work both ways. For most kitchens and bathrooms our in-house team handles layout, cabinetry selection, and finish coordination. For architectural additions, we collaborate with your architect or bring in one of ours.
What does the estimate process look like?
It starts with a phone call and a site visit. We measure, ask the questions that actually affect scope, and follow up with a line-item proposal — not a lump sum. That way you can see where the budget lives and adjust with confidence.
How do you protect my home during construction?
Floors get covered, HVAC returns get sealed, and we set daily cleanup expectations with the crew. Job sites stay organized, tools get stowed, and the driveway isn't a debris pile on Saturday morning.
Ready to talk through your project?
Tell us what you're planning. We'll come measure, ask the right questions, and follow up with a written proposal you can actually compare.
